Kick Off: Dramatic wins for Sporting KC & DC | Whitecaps take 1st place | Maloney stars Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about this morning: 1. SKC LEAVE IT (VERY) LATE It doesn't get much wilder and more entertaining than that! Sporting KC scored two stoppage-time goals to top the Philadelphia Union, 3-2, on Sunday (HIGHLIGHTS), and the Twitter-sphere went berzerk for the dramatic finish, including Crew SC's Kei Kamara. For Philly, the loss was an all-too-familiar story. 2. ALL HAIL JAVIER MORALES Having scored a stunning goal to hand Real Salt Lake a 1-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday (HIGHLIGHTS), Javier Morales received more than a little praise from his teammates. For the Earthquakes, though, more worrying than the result was the mounting number of injuries. 3. WHITECAPS HIT FIRST PLACE The Vancouver Whitecaps sit atop the standings following their fourth straight victory, yet despite an impressive 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy (HIGHLIGHTS) on Saturday, head coach Carl Robinson wants a lot more from his team. Galaxy boss Bruce Arena, meanwhile, was not pleased with his own side's efforts. 4. MAKING ROOM IN VANCOUVER? The Vancouver Whitecaps may be emerging as one of MLS's best teams this season, and on Friday, the Canadian side traded allocation money to the New England Revolution for an additional international spot. Does this clear the way for the arrival of Cristian Techera? 5. TIMBERS AND A TISSUE The Portland Timbers' 3-1 win over FC Dallas late Saturday night (HIGHLIGHTS) earned them their first win of the season, and also sent FCD to their first defeat. The visitors feel they deserved more from the game, while the Timbers were satisfied with the way they neutralized their high-flyingopponents. However, all anyone could talk about was the post-match incident that involved both managers and a tissue. Yes, a tissue. 6. SEATTLE WIN WITH 10 For the second game in a row, the Seattle Sounders had a man sent off, but this time they got a win nonetheless, switching formations to top the Houston Dynamo, 1-0, on Saturday (HIGHLIGHTS). Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins combined for Seattle's goal. On the other side, the result showcased the Dynamo's attacking issues. 7. UNITED WIN LATE -- AGAIN For the second consecutive game, D.C. United notched a stoppage-time winner, this time thanks to the returned Luis Silva, consigning Orlando City to a 1-0 defeat (HIGHLIGHTS). This was the second straight home game in which the Lions conceded a late winner, but they are refusing to lose faith. 8. MALONEY & SHIPP SET TFC ON FIRE Shaun Maloney was searing on Saturday as the Chicago Fire sent Toronto FC to their third consecutive defeat, 3-2 (HIGHLIGHTS). Maloney was relieved to finally have his first goal and assist, while TFC coach Greg Vanney pointed the finger firmly at his defense. 9. REVS HELP RAPIDS TO UNENVIABLE RECORD The New England Revolution seem to have their groove back after a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday (HIGHLIGHTS). The win was the Revs' second in a row and saw Juan Agudelo notch his first goal of the season. Meanwhile, the Rapids were left to rue a penalty that never was and tied the MLS record for a winless streak. 10. NEW STRIKER IN DENVER? As bad as things look for the Colorado Rapids right now, summer arrival Kevin Doyle is not the only chance for outside reinforcements. The club is reportedly "one of several options" for Luton Shelton, the Jamaican national team's all-time leading scorer. 11. IMPACT BRING IN COVER The Montreal Impact had a bye week ahead of their decisive Champions League semifinal second leg against Alajuelense on Tuesday (10pm ET, FOX Sports 2), and the Impact have added some reinforcements in goal, bringing in FC Edmonton 'keeper John Smits on loan for the game in place of cup-tied Eric Kronberg. 12. NO DEAL FOR VAN DER VAART Rafael van der Vaart may not be on his way to MLS after all, as Sporting Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes stated the club is unlikely to sign the Dutch midfielder. It also seems that, But what about former US international Herculez Gomez? 13. II vs. II = 5? While the New York Red Bulls didn't play this weekend, their USL side did, and they came away with a 4-1 win over Toronto FC II at Red Bull Arena. With 11 players on loan from the Red Bulls' MLS side, Marius Obekop and Leo Stolz both got on the scoresheet for the home side. 14. U-20 WORLD CUP ROSTER TAKING SHAPE There is still one more US Under-20 national team camp scheduled before US U-20 coach Tab Ramos picks his final squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, but he apparently already has a "pretty good idea" of who'll travel to New Zealand. 15. RIVER PLATE, RED BULLS SHINE AT GA CUP The 2015 Generation adidas Cup wrapped up Saturday, with River Plate taking home the U-17 tournament's title and the New York Red Bulls winning a dramatic Premier Division final. Here's a recap of all the action from the final day, as well as final standings for all 28 teams who took part.
