FC Barcelona icon Xavi Hernandez has said he was extremely close to joining New York City FC last year, and now it seems the move may be back on for the Spanish international. The Red Bulls added Manolo Sanchez to their roster, while the Union have signed fourth-round pick Raymond Lee along with Cameroonian midfielder Erik Ayuk Mbu. 9. WHO WILL START AT DM? The Portland Timbers season hasn't even begun yet and the injuries are already piling up. With that in mind, Caleb Porter has some interesting selection issues to work out, but the Timbers head coach isn't ready to reveal just yet who will start in the team's defensive midfielder spot. 10. KINNEAR READY FOR THE CHALLENGE The San Jose Earthquakes are down a striker after Mark Sherrod underwent surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee. Meanwhile, it seems outdoor soccer is returning to Wisconsin in 2016. 12. U-17S KEEP ROLLING With things looking good for the US U-17s in the CONCACAF Championships right now, what is the end goal? According to their head coach Richie Williams, it's all about the experience. Canada's U-17s are also still undefeated, following an important 3-2 win over Costa Rica on Tuesday night. 13. ADU HAS OPTIONS Things seem to be looking up for Freddy Adu as, according to his agent, the 25-year-old apparently now has offers from two different Swedish sides. Will he join either? Time will tell. 14. BRADLEY NOT A VILLAN Tuesday saw Bob Bradley being listed as a finalist for the vacant director of football position with Premier League side Aston Villa. But no sooner had the rumor appeared than it was shot down by Bradley's agent, who also had something to say about Xavi and NYCFC. 15.
