Kick Off: MLS 2015 season opens tonight | Kaká vs. Villa | Behind the MLS-USL partnership Here are the top 15 stories we're talking about this morning: 1. HERE WE GO! The MLS season gets underway with Viernes del Futbol on UniMás, featuring the LA Galaxy vs. the Chicago Fire (10 pm ET; broadcast also available in English). The defending champs from LA are ready to go, but head coach Bruce Arena has indicated his club isn't done making signings just yet. For the Chicago Fire, new forward David Accam can't wait to get started, while goalkeeper Sean Johnson is primed for a big year. 2. UNIMAS IS IN ENGLISH, TOO If your Spanish isn't up to snuff, no problemo. All MLS matches in 2015 on UniMás and Univision Deportes Network will also have English audio available, with a former US World Cup star doing the color commentary. The English-language option got some fun chatter on social media from other MLS TV personalities, including FOX's Alexi Lalas and ESPN's Taylor Twellman. 3. EXPANSION BATTLE The opening match on MLS Soccer Sunday pits the two expansion clubs, Orlando City and New York City FC, in front of a sell-out crowd of 62,000 at the Citrus Bowl (5 pm ET, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada). The Lions officially added defender Sean St. Ledger to their roster on Thursday, while NYCFC rookie striker Khiry Shelton is soaking it all in. 4. KAKA VS VILLA The Orlando City-NYCFC showdown is understandably being billed as a duel of two of the biggest new faces in MLS, OCSC's Kaká and NYCFC's David Villa. 5. SPORTING HOST RED BULLS Sporting KC take on the New York Red Bulls in the second game of the Sunday triple header (7 pm ET, FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes in USA, MLS LIVE in Canada). The Red Bulls have added a few players ahead of the match, while SKC CEO Robb Heineman confirmed he'd like to add one of his own this summer: Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart. 6. SOUNDERS TARGET NEXT LEVEL Sunday's slate finishes up with the Seattle Sounders at home to the New England Revolution (9:30 pm ET, FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes in USA, MLS LIVE in Canada). Ahead of the game, the Sounders unveiled their 2015 kits, but the side is less interested in how they look and more in how to get the one domestic trophy they've yet to attain? Similarly, the Revs' Lee Nguyen has an idea for how to top last season's accomplishments. 7. CCL COMBATANTS MEET AT RFK D.C. United host the Montreal Impact in Saturday's matinee opener (3 pm ET, MLS LIVE, local TV). It's a face-off between last week's two CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinalists, and although United's CCL adventure is over, they hope to make a run for the MLS Cup in 2015. On the other hand, the Impact's success against Pachuca has them entering the new season with a super positive vibe. 8. CURTIN CALLS THE SHOTS IN PHILLY 2015 will mark head coach Jim Curtin's first full season in charge of the Philadelphia Union, and as his largely unchanged squad gears up to take on the Colorado Rapids (4 pm ET, MLS LIVE, local TV), could rookie Dzenan Catic play a role? Check out his his interesting journey to MLS. While the Union were busy clearing snow from PPL Park on Thursday, the Rapids unveiled their new away kits and continued to integrate their young US internationals into the lineup. 9. BIG EXPECTATIONS IN TRANS-CANADA MATCH-UP It's west vs. east in Canada as the Vancouver Whitecaps host Toronto FC (TSN 1,3, 4 & RDS 2 in Canada, MLS LIVE in USA). And while the Whitecaps' fans are thirsting for some action, there is a whole other level of expectation sitting on TFC's shoulders. 10. DYNAMO GO INTERNATIONAL The Houston Dynamo have undergone something of an international makeover this offseason and, with an increasing number of Spanish speakers on the team, first-year head coach Owen Coyle is trying to "pick up little phrases here and there" to aid his communcation. Meanwhile, the Dynamo's opponents on Saturday, Columbus Crew SC (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE, local TV), are welcoming new pressures. 11. PAREJA KEEPS THE FAITH IN DC FC Dallas unveiled their new away kits on Thursday, and, just like in Philly, the groundskeepers at Toyota Stadium had to clear snow from the field to allow the team to practice ahead of Saturday's clash with the San Jose Earthquakes (8.30 pm ET, MLS LIVE, local TV ). FCD coach Oscar Pareja plans to continued to give youth its due, while the Quakes will hand a very patient David Bingham the starting spot in goal. 12. TIMBERS GET BOOST AHEAD OF RSL VISIT Left back Jorge Villafana declared himself fit and ready to go for the Portland Timbers's season opener against Real Salt Lake (10:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE, local TV). On the other side, RSL veteran Kyle Beckerman weighs in on why his team will still succeed despite their large offseason turnover. 13. MLS NOW AVAILABLE ACROSS EUROPE Having already announced a landmark deal with British broadcaster Sky Sports, MLS will now be available to fans in the rest of Europe thanks to a new four-year deal with Eurosport. In other broadcast news, FOX Sports revealed their full MLS broadcast team, including one Mr. Landon Donovan. 14. THESE KIDS ARE MORE THAN ALRIGHT The US Under-17s have all but confirmed their place in the next stage of the CONCACAF Championships following their third straight win, a 4-1 mauling of Guatemala 4-1 to put themselves in good position for an automatic berth to the U-17 World Cup. 15.
