Kick Off: Bradley, USMNT take on Switzerland | Canada win again | Alonso returns for Seattle

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about this morning:

1. TOUGHER TEST FOR USMNT

Coming off a 3-2 loss to Denmark, the US national team will be looking to close out the March international window with a win. However, with Jurgen Klinsmann hoping to build chemistry while also testing his players against some of the world's elite sides, things won't get any easier when the US face Switzerland today (12 pm ET; Fox Sports 1, UniMas, Univision Deportes).

2. BRADLEY'S MIDFIELD PARTNER

Michael Bradley is relishing his role as captain of the US national team, but who should partner with him in the center of midfield? The answer, in this camp at least, is Alejandro Bedoya, who is more than willing to play utility man.

3. US DUAL NATIONALS KEEN TO IMPRESS

Tuesday's game against Switzerland could also offer the USMNT's latest dual nationals a chance to impress. Goalkeeper William Yarbrough is keen to make the most of his opportunity, and Ventura Alvarado's experiences so far have him ready to fully commit to the US.

4. QUESTIONS FOR (AND ABOUT) KLINSMANN

Questions remain about the US national team's best backline. Who would you play across the back in Zurich? Meanwhile, Jurgen Klinsmann has come in for some criticism recently from former US youth team coach Thomas Rongen, who wondered on Monday if Klinsmann might not be the best man to lead the team.

5. CANADA KEEP ROLLING

The Canadian national team earned another confidence-boosting win on Monday, defeating Puerto Rico, 3-0. The match saw Orlando City striker Cyle Larin score his first goal for the senior team.

6. SEATTLE GETTING STRONGER

There's no denying that the Seattle Sounders were not at their strongest last weekend. While some players used that opportunity to impress the coaches, this weekend the Sounders expect to have a fuller squad. And there's other good news: Osvaldo Alonso is back in full training.

7. IKE OPARA: BETTER THAN EVER?

Sporting KC defender Ike Opara was sidelined for most of the 2014 season after suffering a serious ankle injury, but he has returned this year seemingly better than ever.

8. MISSING MAURO

Many were puzzled to see Mauro Diaz's name missing from the team sheet for Saturday's FC Dallas' game against the Sounders. The absence, combined with an alternate training regime, have some people wondering: what is going on with the young star?

9. INNOCENT COMMENTS

The Chicago Fire made Victor Perez's loan official on Friday, and head coach Frank Yallop confirmed that he won't count as a Designated Player. Meanwhile, one of the San Jose's DPs says there's not much difference between the level of MLS and that of Serie A or Ligue 1.

10. TOP OF THE TO-DO LIST IN ATLANTA?

There's less than two years now until Atlanta makes their MLS debut, so what are the most pressing issues the club is working on? Well, according to President Darren Eales, the team name and a training facility are among the top priorities.

11. HOMES IN THE CITY

New York Red Bulls II made their USL debut at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, but that won't be the new team's home, as the club finalized a deal to play at Columbia University. Speaking of new homes, here's an update on the New England Revolution's stadium plans in Boston.

12. XAVI: WILL HE OR WON'T HE?

Looks like the Xavi saga isn't quite as finished as we thought last week. The Barcelona star stated that his recent trip to Qatar was personal, not professional, and that there is no deal in place with Al Sadd.

13. MEXICO DRESS TO IMPRESS

The Mexican national team is also back in action Tuesday when they take on Paraguay in Kansas City (9 pm ET, ESPN 2). With manager Miguel Herrera making a number of changes to the squad that defeated Ecuador on Saturday, this game offers many relatively untested players their chance to impress.

14. HONDURAS MAKE IT THROUGH

There were some shaky moments, but Honduras secured their Gold Cup berth, thanks to former D.C. United player Andy Najar's brace in a 3-0 win over French Guiana, overturning a 3-1 first-leg deficit to ensure a 4-3 aggregate victory. Check out this golazo by the Anderlecht star.

15. US SOCCER COMMUNITY MOURNS

Monday marked a sad day for the US soccer community, which lost one of its own after it was revealed that missing Cal freshman midfielder Eloi Vasquez was killed after being struck by a car.

Kick Off: Late goals save the day, Kaká puts on a show and the New York Red Bulls go top in Week 4

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about this morning:

1. LEAVING IT LATE

It was a great night for Jordan Allen on Sunday, as Real Salt Lake's Homegrown forward stepped up to score an 89th-minute winner and hand his side a 2-1 win over Toronto FC (HIGHLIGHTS). The result was particularly frustrating for the visitors, considering they'd managed to score an equalizer just moments beforehand. RSL's Devon Sandoval also had a great night, but for a completely different reason.

2. ROWE RUNS RAMPANT

Kelyn Rowe took care of the New England Revolution's early-season woes, scoring the club's first two goals of the season to guide them to a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes (HIGHLIGHTS). The Revolution hope that there will be plenty more to come now they've cleared that first hurdle. But despite a sloppy start, the Quakes were pleased with their second-half efforts.

3. RED BULLS REWARDED

Gregg Berhalter condemned his own Columbus Crew SC side while praising the opposition following Saturday's 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls (HIGHLIGHTS), in which the visitors also scored their 1,000th MLS goal. For the Red Bulls, it was all just reward for their high-pressure tactics.

4. KAKÁ TURNS IT ON

Having taken a two-goal lead over Orlando City, the Montreal Impact were looking good value for their first win of the MLS season on Saturday afternoon. But instead, manager Frank Klopas was left to rue what he described as two soft goals, conceded within two minutes of the Impact's second, as Kaká showed exactly why he's a former Ballon d'Or winner by guiding the Lions back to a 2-2 draw (HIGHLIGHTS).

5. TRUST IN EARNSHAW

Robert Earnshaw only signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday, but Carl Robinson's faith in his fellow Welshman was rewarded when the late-game substitute scored a stoppage-time winner, the Caps' second in as many games, to lead them to a 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers (HIGHLIGHTS). Yet with the number of chances the Timbers created, Caleb Porter can't understand how his side didn't win.

6. FIRE FINALLY WIN

A solitary goal was enough to give the Chicago Fire a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union (HIGHLIGHTS) and ensure their first win of 2015. With Shaun Maloney away scoring penalty kicks for Scotland, Harry Shipp was left to run the show, and run it he did. But from the Union's perspective, Jim Curtin wasn't interested in excuses.

7. STRAIGHT FROM THE TRAINING GROUND

With David Villa a late scratch from the team sheet and the club's other DP, Frank Lampard, watching from the stands, New York City FC fell to their first MLS defeat on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Sporting Kansas City (HIGHLIGHTS). NYCFC felt a draw would have been a fair result, but they fell victim to SKC's perfectly practiced long throw-in.

8. PONTIUS ON POINT

Chris Pontius ended his own mini-scoring slump on Saturday, scoring a stoppage-time winner to consign the defending champion LA Galaxy to a 1-0 defeat (HIGHLIGHTS) and their first loss against D.C. United in six years. Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was unsurprisingly displeased, stating, "losing that game was ridiculous."

9. STILL UNDEFEATED

Although Kellyn Acosta knows his challenge was a bit rough, the midfielder didn't expect to get thrown out of Saturday's game. Yet despite his ejection, FC Dallas were able to remain undefeated this season, as the Seattle Sounders failed to make their man advantage count in a 0-0 draw (HIGHLIGHTS).

10. RECORD-BREAKING RAPIDS

The Colorado Rapids set a new mark following their latest 0-0 draw with the Houston Dynamo (HIGHLIGHTS). Problem is, they're not the kind of records the Rapids want. However, while the Dynamo had scoring problems of their own on Saturday, head coach Owen Coyle chose to accentuate the positives.

11. A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION

The US Under-23 national team won the first competitive game of their 2016 Olympic preparations, beating Bosnia-Herzegovina 5-2 on Friday. Just like the senior team, Andi Herzog's squad will take on Mexico in April as they continue preparations for CONCACAF Olympic qualifying. But next up for the U-23s is Denmark on Tuesday and they'll have to face the European side without Jordan Morris, who's been called to the senior side to replace Aron Johannsson.

12. CONFIDENT CANADA

Canada earned their first win of 2015 and just their second since 2012 following a 1-0 victory over Guatemala on Friday. The Canadian team now face Puerto Rico today (7:30 pm ET) but go into that game now knowing that they'll face Dominica in their first round of World Cup qualifying.

13. OTHER INTERNATIONAL ACTION

While his domestic form may be suffering due to a lack of playing time, Javier Hernandez was able to shake off the rust and show he's certainly not short on confidence, scoring the only goal as Mexico beat Paraguay 1-0 in front of 88,409 at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Saturday. Meanwhile, two MLS stars led Jamaica to a 2-1 victory over Venezuela.

14. BACK IN THE USL

While six teams played the weekend before, the rest of the USL got underway this weekend, with Timbers 2 beating the Real Monarchs, Sounders 2 easily overcoming Whitecaps 2, Sacramento Republic edging out LA Galaxy II, Toronto FC II taking down FC Montreal and New York Red Bulls II held to a 0-0 draw by the Rochester Rhinos.

15. A GREAT FINNISH

Freddy Adu has a new club. Yet, despite heavy talk of "interest" from two Swedish sides, the 25-year-old has instead landed in nearby Finland, signing with Kuopion Palloseura.

Kick Off: Cascadia clash, Soccer Sunday twin bill highlight Week 4 action | Jermaine Jones rejoins Revs

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about this morning:

1.  LOOK WHO’S BACK

With the New England Revolution still searching for their first goal of the season, the club received a boost ahead of their game with the San Jose Earthquakes (Saturday, 3 pm ET, MLS LIVE) as Jermaine Jones is finally back with his teammates. The Revolution did mark their first shutout last weekend, but that’ll be put to the test against a Quakes side who want to punish you on set pieces.

2. ORLANDO LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

If the Montreal Impact have any say in the matter, Orlando City’s first MLS game in Canada (Saturday, 4 pm ET; TSN 3, 5 & RDS in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US) could also mark their first back-to-back defeats in any league. The Impact will be hoping to avoid any further injuries, and while Donny Toia is quietly establishing himself in the back line, could the loss of Cameron Porter give Romario Williams a chance to shine?

3. MIX’S DIS IS NYCFC’S GAIN

While Jason Kreis has expressed surprise at the US national team omitting Mix Diskerud, the USA's loss could be New York City FC’s gain when they host Sporting Kansas City on Saturday (7 pm ET, MLS LIVE). Dom Dwyer will be looking to get back on form for SKC and continue his meteoric rise through US soccer. In other news, it looks like we won’t be seeing Xavi Hernandez in MLS.

4. CAN BUDDLE TAKE ADVANTAGE?

With Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes away on international duty, D.C. United couldn’t have asked for a better time to play the LA Galaxy (Saturday, 7 pm ET; MLS LIVE). It just so happens Zardes' potential replacement is one of MLS' best-ever scorers, as Edson Buddle is ready to step in and hopefully take advantage of United’s so-far shaky back line.

5. SHOCKED BY SUSPENSION

Tony Tchani could make his return to Columbus Crew SC’s starting lineup when his side host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday (7:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE), and the midfielder says he was surprised to find himself suspended in the first place. The Red Bulls, on the other hand, look to be fielding a depleted back line, a situation that ought to give Matt Miazga a chance to shine.

6. CASCADIA CUP CLASH

The Vancouver Whitecaps will have to make do without Diego Rodriguez for their clash against the Portland Timbers this Saturday (8 pm ET; TSN1 in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US) after the defender received a suspension from the MLS Disciplinary Committee. The Portland Timbers have absences of their own, but completed the loan signing of Ishmael Yartey and could get Alvas Powell back this weekend.

7. SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE

With the Houston Dynamo losing a number of players to the international window, can the Colorado Rapids take advantage of a much-depleted team when the two face off on Saturday (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE)? Meanwhile, although he’s not due to arrive for a while yet, new Rapids striker Kevin Doyle is already trying his hand at the local lingo.

8. DALLAS EYE REVENGE

Having been eliminated from the playoffs by the Seattle Sounders last year, Saturday’s rematch offers FC Dallas a chance to take their revenge (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE). As Sigi Schmid looks for his team to bounce back from their loss to the Earthquakes two weeks ago, the Sounders' head coach has been impressed by what he’s seen from some of the club’s USL players. Also, has Lamar Neagle been rewarded with a new contract?

9. QUINCY STILL NO.1

The Chicago Fire added some forwards this winter and some thought that might spell the end for Quincy Amarikwa’s reign up front, but a number of different circumstances mean the incumbent striker remains the team’s first choice. The Fire host the Philadelphia Union on Sunday (5 pm ET; ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada), and injuries mean young Cameroonian Eric Ayuk could get another chance to shine for Philly.

10. FAITH IN NUMBERS

Believe it or not, Real Salt Lake’s game against Toronto FC (7 pm ET; Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada) will be the Utah-based team’s first regular-season home game played on a Sunday. Neither team is at full strength this week, and while RSL's Devon Sandoval hopes he can put his 2014 woes behind him, Toronto FC are turning to analytics to help their side along.

11. FULL SLATE IN THE USL

The USL season continues this weekend with the rest of the MLS-owned or MLS-affiliated teams getting their campaigns underway and that means finalizing the rosters. In fact, Timbers 2 added eight more players to their squad, but does Orlando City’s affiliation with Louisville highlight a different option?

12. MOVES AND MISTAKES

The US don’t play Switzerland until Monday (noon ET, Fox Sports 1, UniMas and UDN), giving the national team time to identify some of their issues. One of those issues, according to New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, is a lack of identity. In other news, Berti Vogts is back as a new technical director to assist Jurgen Klinsmann. Speaking of Klinsmann, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says one decision in particular cost him his job at Bayern Munich.

13. BUILDING MOMENTUM

When it comes to Canada, manager Benito Floro continues his preparations for both World Cup qualifying and this summer’s Gold Cup with a match against Guatemala today (4:30 pm ET). The Canadian side includes several MLS stars, and lining up against them could be FC Dallas’ Moises Hernandez.

14. SELECTION QUESTIONS FOR HERRERA

Mexico take on Ecuador this Saturday (9:30 pm ET, ESPN2) at a sold-out LA Coliseum and while Javier Hernandez is looking to end his goal drought, manager Miguel Herrera faces a difficult choice in deciding who will be his starting goalkeeper.

15. MORE CONCACAF ACTION

In other CONCACAF affairs, Costa Rica drew 0-0 with Paraguay in an international friendly, extending their unbeaten streak to 13 games. Meanwhile, for other nations, World Cup Qualifying continues.
