Kick Off: Cascadia clash, Soccer Sunday twin bill highlight Week 4 action | Jermaine Jones rejoins Revs Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about this morning: 1. LOOK WHO’S BACK With the New England Revolution still searching for their first goal of the season, the club received a boost ahead of their game with the San Jose Earthquakes (Saturday, 3 pm ET, MLS LIVE) as Jermaine Jones is finally back with his teammates. The Revolution did mark their first shutout last weekend, but that’ll be put to the test against a Quakes side who want to punish you on set pieces. 2. ORLANDO LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK If the Montreal Impact have any say in the matter, Orlando City’s first MLS game in Canada (Saturday, 4 pm ET; TSN 3, 5 & RDS in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US) could also mark their first back-to-back defeats in any league. The Impact will be hoping to avoid any further injuries, and while Donny Toia is quietly establishing himself in the back line, could the loss of Cameron Porter give Romario Williams a chance to shine? 3. MIX’S DIS IS NYCFC’S GAIN While Jason Kreis has expressed surprise at the US national team omitting Mix Diskerud, the USA's loss could be New York City FC’s gain when they host Sporting Kansas City on Saturday (7 pm ET, MLS LIVE). Dom Dwyer will be looking to get back on form for SKC and continue his meteoric rise through US soccer. In other news, it looks like we won’t be seeing Xavi Hernandez in MLS. 4. CAN BUDDLE TAKE ADVANTAGE? With Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes away on international duty, D.C. United couldn’t have asked for a better time to play the LA Galaxy (Saturday, 7 pm ET; MLS LIVE). It just so happens Zardes' potential replacement is one of MLS' best-ever scorers, as Edson Buddle is ready to step in and hopefully take advantage of United’s so-far shaky back line. 5. SHOCKED BY SUSPENSION Tony Tchani could make his return to Columbus Crew SC’s starting lineup when his side host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday (7:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE), and the midfielder says he was surprised to find himself suspended in the first place. The Red Bulls, on the other hand, look to be fielding a depleted back line, a situation that ought to give Matt Miazga a chance to shine. 6. CASCADIA CUP CLASH The Vancouver Whitecaps will have to make do without Diego Rodriguez for their clash against the Portland Timbers this Saturday (8 pm ET; TSN1 in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US) after the defender received a suspension from the MLS Disciplinary Committee. The Portland Timbers have absences of their own, but completed the loan signing of Ishmael Yartey and could get Alvas Powell back this weekend. 7. SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE With the Houston Dynamo losing a number of players to the international window, can the Colorado Rapids take advantage of a much-depleted team when the two face off on Saturday (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE)? Meanwhile, although he’s not due to arrive for a while yet, new Rapids striker Kevin Doyle is already trying his hand at the local lingo. 8. DALLAS EYE REVENGE Having been eliminated from the playoffs by the Seattle Sounders last year, Saturday’s rematch offers FC Dallas a chance to take their revenge (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE). As Sigi Schmid looks for his team to bounce back from their loss to the Earthquakes two weeks ago, the Sounders' head coach has been impressed by what he’s seen from some of the club’s USL players. Also, has Lamar Neagle been rewarded with a new contract? 9. QUINCY STILL NO.1 The Chicago Fire added some forwards this winter and some thought that might spell the end for Quincy Amarikwa’s reign up front, but a number of different circumstances mean the incumbent striker remains the team’s first choice. The Fire host the Philadelphia Union on Sunday (5 pm ET; ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada), and injuries mean young Cameroonian Eric Ayuk could get another chance to shine for Philly. 10. FAITH IN NUMBERS Believe it or not, Real Salt Lake’s game against Toronto FC (7 pm ET; Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada) will be the Utah-based team’s first regular-season home game played on a Sunday. Neither team is at full strength this week, and while RSL's Devon Sandoval hopes he can put his 2014 woes behind him, Toronto FC are turning to analytics to help their side along. 11. FULL SLATE IN THE USL The USL season continues this weekend with the rest of the MLS-owned or MLS-affiliated teams getting their campaigns underway and that means finalizing the rosters. In fact, Timbers 2 added eight more players to their squad, but does Orlando City’s affiliation with Louisville highlight a different option? 12. MOVES AND MISTAKES The US don’t play Switzerland until Monday (noon ET, Fox Sports 1, UniMas and UDN), giving the national team time to identify some of their issues. One of those issues, according to New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, is a lack of identity. In other news, Berti Vogts is back as a new technical director to assist Jurgen Klinsmann. Speaking of Klinsmann, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says one decision in particular cost him his job at Bayern Munich. 13. BUILDING MOMENTUM When it comes to Canada, manager Benito Floro continues his preparations for both World Cup qualifying and this summer’s Gold Cup with a match against Guatemala today (4:30 pm ET). The Canadian side includes several MLS stars, and lining up against them could be FC Dallas’ Moises Hernandez. 14. SELECTION QUESTIONS FOR HERRERA Mexico take on Ecuador this Saturday (9:30 pm ET, ESPN2) at a sold-out LA Coliseum and while Javier Hernandez is looking to end his goal drought, manager Miguel Herrera faces a difficult choice in deciding who will be his starting goalkeeper. 15. MORE CONCACAF ACTION In other CONCACAF affairs, Costa Rica drew 0-0 with Paraguay in an international friendly, extending their unbeaten streak to 13 games. Meanwhile, for other nations, World Cup Qualifying continues.
