Kick Off: New York City FC, Orlando City augment rosters in Expansion Draft, trades ensue Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today: 1. EXPANSION DRAFT COMPLETE The MLS Expansion draft is complete, with Orlando City selecting Donovan Ricketts No. 1 overall and both teams making other interesting selections. Orlando City were pleased with their balance of selections, while New York City FC feel they also got a win with their choices. 2. GO WITH WHAT YOU KNOW Among Jason Kreis' picks during the Expansion Draft for NYCFC were two of his former players from Real Salt Lake and he explains his reasons for reuniting with his old charges. And whileNed Grabavoy opens up about departing his long-time club, New York City FC now have enough players to put a team on the field, but of course the club is far from done with their signings. 3. FAMILIAR FACE RETURNS FOR RSL Real Salt Lake will certainly feel the loss of veterans Ned Grabavoy and Chris Wingert, but the pain of those two losses may be eased slightly by the news that the club has reacquired defender Jamison Olave from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for allocation money. 4. BACK TO THE BRONX? New York City FC may not have picked up a goalkeeper during the Expansion Draft, but they did shortly after, acquiring Fordham alum and RBNY shot-stopper Ryan Meara on loan for 2015 from the rival New York Red Bulls. NYCFC's other rostered goalkeeper, Josh Saunders, is hopeful of earning a starting role for the new team, but he now has some competition. 5. GONE AND BACK AGAIN Toronto FC winger Daniel Lovitz was New York City FC's fourth pick in the Expansion Draft, but the Canadian club were not willing to lose their midfielder and sent allocation money to NYCFC in exchange for reacquiring Lovitz. 6. DRAFT AND TRADE After being selected with Orlando City's final pick of the Expansion Draft, defender Eric Gehrig may have been disappointed to find himself leaving Columbus Crew SC, but that disappointment was soon replaced with excitement as his rights were traded to his hometown club, the Chicago Fire. The Fire also appear to have sold Juan Luis Anangono, while the Crew SC have a left winger in their sites. 7. ANIBABA TO KC? Orlando City acquired Jalil Anibaba from the Seattle Sounders during the Expansion Draft (the only Sounders player selected), but it looks like the defender will not actually be heading to Florida. Instead, he'll reportedly be joining Sporting Kansas City as the final part of the two clubs' trade for Aurelien Collin. 8. SAY HELLO AND WAIVE GOODBYE There was another draft on Wednesday -- the Waiver Draft. And while the majority of teams chose to pass on their picks, three former Chivas USA players found potential new homes, including Nigel Reo-Coker, who was selected by the Montreal Impact. 9. RUMBLINGS FROM QUAKES In addition to picking up Leandro Barrera in the Waiver Draft, the San Jose Earthquakes alsosigned goalkeeper David Bingham to a new contract, suggesting the fourth-year man could be the new starter ahead of out-of-contract veteran Jon Busch. 10. A NEW DIRECTOR? Have the New York Red Bulls identified a new Sporting Director to replace Andy Roxburgh? According to the latest rumors, the club is closing in on New England Revolution assistant coach Tom Soehn for the role. 11. TORRES WANTS TO STAY Will Erick "El Cubo" Torres be back in MLS next year? It's a question that continues to swirl, with the latest report suggesting that Torres would prefer not to return to Chivas Guadalajara,instead favoring a move to either the LA Galaxy or the Seattle Sounders. 12. VEGAS REVISED The group behind Las Vegas' attempts to land an MLS franchise has released a revised stadium package in a final attempt to secure the support they need ahead of a crucial City Council vote on December 17. 13. KLINSMANN STICKS TO HIS GUNS Was Jurgen Klinsmann right to play Michael Bradley in an advanced role during the World Cup? Many feel it's not his strongest position, but in the first part of an interview with SI.com's Grant Wahl, the US national team head coach doubled down on his view of Bradley's place in the team. 14. US U-18s HEADING TO SPAIN The US U-18 national team are heading to Spain for a 10-day training camp, and there are 14 players from MLS teams or their academies among the 20-man roster, including five Homegrown Players. ANOTHER RETIREMENT IN LA As the LA Galaxy get ready to embark on a postseason tour, albeit one without any matches, it seems that Landon Donovan, who will be present on the trip, isn't the only Galaxy player retiring this winter.
