Kick Off: Reunions in the cards in Kansas City and San Jose? l Fire add Brazilian defender

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. BRAZILIAN FIRE

The Chicago Fire have added another new player to their roster, this time turning to Brazil to sign 31-year-old defender Adailton Jose dos Santos Filho. The 6-foot-3 Brazilian will occupy an international spot for the Fire and head coach Frank Yallop is pleased to have filled an important gap in his squad.

2. FOLLOW YOUR LEADER

As Dominic Kinnear continues to rebuild the San Jose Earthquakes, the Houston Dynamo could be set to lose two of their long-serving assistant coaches, with reports suggesting thatTim Hanley and Steve Ralston are both looking to follow their former boss to his new club.

3. GETTING BACK TOGETHER?

Is Roger Espinoza on his way back to MLS? Sporting Kansas City still hold the player's rights and it seems the two parties are close to an agreement which will see the Honduran return to his former team. Meanwhile, club CEO Robb Heineman did his part to fuel the speculation.

4. MLS SCHEDULE

Looking to plan your 2015 soccer schedule and perhaps some road trips in the year ahead? You're just a few days away from being able to do it as the full MLS schedule is set to be released on January 7, two months before the start of the 2015 regular season.

5. IT'S THE LAW

Tuesday marked another big moment for the recently approved D.C. United stadium, as outgoing mayor Vincent Gray officially signed the soccer stadium bill into law. Gray worked hard during his tenure to help make the stadium happen, with Council chairman Phil Mendelson calling it "a part of Mayor Gray's legacy."

6. INKOOM SPEAKS OUT

Despite recent reports from Ghana, Samuel Inkoom insists his agent was in fact aware of his trade from D.C. United to the Houston Dynamo but, the player's agent claims that they still need to come to an agreement with the MLS side over a contract.

7. DISKERUD'S DECISION

According to Mix Diskerud's father, the US international could still re-sign with Norwegian side Rosenberg, despite the club claiming otherwise. Diskerud Sr. also states that his son has narrowed his options down to four teams, with a decision to be announced sometime next week.

8. SALGADO'S NEW BEGINNING

Omar Salgado's troubled time with the Vancouver Whitecaps finally came to an end earlier this month but, with the young American striker quickly finding a new home in Mexico with UANL Tigres, the 21-year-old is looking forward to a fresh start.

9. ALVAREZ EYES A BETTER FUTURE

As a Cuban defector, Yordany Alvarez knows all too well the painfully difficult choice many talented young Cuban players face in pursuit of a soccer career. Yet as relations between the US and Cuba continue to improve, the former MLS player and current Orlando City youth coach hopes this might mean a better path for future Cuban players.

10. NO LAMPARD JAN. 1?

We should know soon enough whether or not Frank Lampard is extending his stay with Manchester City but, if he does, the midfielder may be forced to miss the Premier League side's game against Southampton on New Year's Day due to an issue with his registration.

11. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

When it comes to the two New York teams, youth and player development programs will surely represent a key component of their strategy. New York Red Bulls fans, who have already seen their academy produce the likes of Juan Agudelo, will next be waiting to see what route the club takes in regards to its USL PRO options. Meanwhile, New York City FC may have thepotential for one of the best academies in the country.

12. TRAPP DOOR

The US national team will also be getting together for their January Camp before too long and while there's plenty of speculation as to who deserves a call-up, it looks like we've found out at least one player who'll be attending, with reports suggesting Columbus Crew SC's Will Trapp will be among the players invited.

13. THE NEXT GENERATION

Speaking of youth, the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship is just around the corner and, as head coach Tab Ramos leads some of his U-20 players through a final training camp, here's a look at those likely to make the final roster and how the side is likely to set up.

14. BEING REALISTIC

So, Gedion Zelalem is officially a US citizen now and looks destined for a role with the US national team. But two writers warn that perhaps it's worth tempering expectations and remembering that this is a 17-year-old kid with just a handful of first-team appearances for Arsenal and not the savior for the US national team.

15. DEMPSEY DROPS A BEAT

We all know by now that US captain Clint Dempsey is something of an aspiring rapper but did you know where he first started rapping? You do now.

Kick Off: Sounders bolster defense, Roger Espinoza poised for MLS return and Montreal eye DP targets

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. SOUNDERS SIGNING

The Seattle Sounders have made their first signing of the offseason, picking up veteran English defender Tyrone Mears. The 31-year-old impressed in training with the Sounders in the summer and should help fill in the gaps following the departures of DeAndre Yedlin, Jalil Anibaba and Djimi Traore.

2. NO DEAL DONE FOR SALCEDO

Despite recent reports, Real Salt Lake's technical director Craig Waibel has insisted that no deal sending Carlos Salcedo to Chivas Guadalajara is close to being finalized. Waibel also made it clear that Salcedo is available should someone meet RSL's asking price, but added the club is not actively looking to sell the 21-year-old.

3. IMPACT TARGETS?

With reports that the Montreal Impact are looking to add two Designated Players this week,Alberto Gilardino and Juan Roman Riquelme emerged as favorites to join the club. Yet it seems that while Gilardino could well be on his way, there's apparently no truth to the Riquelme rumors.

4. ESPINOZA SET FOR RETURN?

Looks like Roger Espinoza could be on his way back to the US, with the Wigan Evening Post suggesting that the Honduran's current club, Wigan Athletic, have given the midfielder permission to leave the club. Sporting KC hold his rights and head coach Peter Vermes has made it clear the former Sporting Park star is welcome back in his old stomping grounds.

5. EDDIE AND THE EARTHQUAKES?

Could the San Jose Earthquakes be close to signing a new striker? They might be according to Honduran forward Eddie Hernandez, who has declared he's received an offer from the MLS side along with various other clubs abroad.

6. CITIZEN Z

There was potentially big news for the US national team on Monday as highly-rated 17-year-old Arsenal starlet Gedion Zelalem reportedly secured his US citizenship. That opens the door, pending FIFA approval, for Zelalem to represent the US, something the Arsenal youngster is reportedly keen to do.

7. DISKERUD DEFINITELY ON THE MOVE

Mix Diskerud might need to decrypt his poems and make a decision now, as it was revealed on Monday that the US international will not be returning to Norwegian side Rosenberg in 2015. With the player's contract set to expire on Wednesday, the club revealed that attempts to secure a new deal had failed, leaving the midfielder to pursue other options.

8. EXTENDED STAY FOR ONYEWU

One American abroad whose immediate future is settled though is Oguchi Onyewu, as the defender had his contract with English Championship side Charlton Athletic extended until the end of the English season.

9. AVAILABLE OPTIONS

It also seems that a couple of other players are looking to either move or return stateside, with former US youth keeper Quentin Westberg, currently without a club, calling MLS a viable option. Dutch midfielder Demy De Zeeuw has offered his services to MLS, amongst others, via LinkedIn.

10. PLENTY OF ROOM IN ATLANTA

When Atlanta's MLS franchise begins play in 2017, they'll be entering an already crowded sports market. But don't worry because club president Darren Eales is confident the new club will be able to carve out its own slice of the action.

11. RONALDINHO TO ORLANDO?!

For now we're just going to chalk this one up to it being silly season, but with former Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho seemingly on the outs with Mexican side Queretaro, could the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year find a new home with Orlando City?

12. HOWARD SET FOR THE SIDELINES

Tim Howard's currently on hiatus from the US national team, but it looks like the goalkeeper is set for a short break from the domestic game as well following news that the calf injury he picked up on Boxing Day will keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks.

13. PLAYING HOME GAMES AWAY

World Cup qualifying will begin for some nations in 2015 and as Guatemala attempt to reach the final phase of qualifying, concerns over their infrastructure has the Guatemalan Soccer Federation considering the possibility of playing their "home" games in the United States.

14. TOP PICKS?

We all know Robbie Earle as a soccer pundit for NBC, but the former Jamaican international could soon also be known as the father as one of the MLS SuperDraft's hottest prospects. Staying with the SuperDraft, reports have emerged that forward Romario Williams has been signed as the first member of the 2015 Generation adidas class.

15. THE MLS SUPERFANS

As MLS supporter culture continues to grow and grow in the US, meet the fans who take it to the next level.

Kick Off: Jamieson's star shines bright for LA & US l De Rossi reportedly interested in New York move

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. PATH TO PRO

USL is quite rightly being touted as an ever-more important rung on the ladder of professional soccer in the US, particularly with the growing number of MLS development sides. But it's not all wunderkinds and five-star prospects: there's always been room for guys who fall more into the "solid pro" category, and perhaps no-one better epitomises that than Luke Mulholland, the Real Salt Lake midfielder who worked his way up from the USL PDL to being a regular starter for one of the better teams in MLS.

2. MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Let's not forget the wunderkinds, though. Having made an impact for the US U20's in CONCACAF qualifying, Bradford Jameson IV is showing the benefits of regular playing time for younger players in USL and according to the LA Galaxy II star, "as far as development goes, I think it's going to be influential in the future of US Soccer."

3. PROVISIONAL PLAYERS

Jamieson and 20 others are in the first U20 camp of the year for the US. Head coach Tab Ramos named both a 21-man camp and a 35-man provisional U20 roster for the upcoming CONCACAF Championship. There are 10 MLS players amongst the 35 names included, from which Ramos must select 20 by Friday.'

4. HOUSTON'S NEXT TARGET?

It seems that the Houston Dynamo's signings won't stop with Erick Torres, as reports over the weekend indicate the club could be closing in on 27-year-old Spanish defender Raul Rodriguez, currently with La Liga side Espanyol. The veteran center back would certainly fill a need.

5. AGITATED AGENT

The Dynamo have also expanded their current roster by officially signing Re-Entry Draft selection Chandler Hoffman. However, while the club also picked up Samuel Inkoom in a trade with D.C. United, it seems the Ghanaian's representatives have some issues with the deal.

6. LAFC'S LATEST ADDITIONS

LAFC have added a further two individuals to their ownership group with Lon Rosen and Tucker Kain, both currently executives with the LA Dodgers, coming on board for the new MLS Franchise. That brings the group to 24.

7. DE ROSSI AND THE BIG APPLE

Could an Italian World Cup winner be on his way to MLS? According to stories from Italy,Daniel De Rossi is considering a move stateside for the next stage of his career, with both the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC said to be interested in the 31-year-old midfielder. Take this one with a gigantic grain of salt as De Rossi, a former teammate of Michael Bradley who's perhaps best-known in US circles for  breaking Brian McBride's face at the 2006 World Cup, looks the part of an AS Roma lifer.

8. NOUVEAUX AJOUTS?

more reliable source is reporting that the Montreal Impact are on the verge of adding a pair of DPs ahead of the 2015 preseason, and could find a third, non-DP player in the mix as well. Given their heavy early-season schedule -- they're in the CONCACAF Champions League knockout rounds, remember -- the earlier the better for any and all new additions at Stade Saputo.

9. A CAREER IN SOUTH KOREA

Hey, ever wondered what Ryan Johnson's up to since leaving MLS? Well, it looks like the Jamaican international is heading for a reunion with another former MLS man, Vancouver Whitecaps boss Martin Rennie, with reports that the striker is set to sign for the Scotsman's South Korean side Seoul E-Land.

10. GARGAN TARGETS MORE

While Dan Gargan was brought into the LA Galaxy squad last season to provide much needed depth, circumstances meant that the versatile 32-year-old ended up in a starting role for much of the year. Will Gargan's performances have been enough to earn him a regular spot in 2015?

11. THE EXPORT BUSINESS

While MLS players enjoy a well-earned holiday rest, Christmas is a particularly busy time for Americans in England, with export standouts Geoff Cameron and Brad Guzan both finishing the year with shutouts in the English Premier League

12. HOWARD TARGETS 2018

Tim Howard, meanwhile, played no part in his Everton side's 3-2 loss to Newcastle Unitedhaving picked up a calf strain in the Boxing Day clash against Cameron's Stoke City. Off the field the US international, who still hopes to play in the 2018 World Cup, has revealed thatspeaking to President Obama on the phone was nowhere near as daunting as an angry Sir Alex Ferguson.

13. KLJESTAN IS AVAILABLE

Could a Sacha Kljestan move to MLS still be on the cards? The US international certainly looks like he might be going somewhere after Belgian side Anderlecht revealed that the midfielder is available for "a fair offer".

14. MEXICO: A TOP 10 TEAM?

Under manager Miguel Herrera, the Mexican national team seems to have found its way again. Herrera's aims for 2015 are to win the Gold Cup and reach the final of the Copa America, and MLSsoccer.com contributor Tom Marshall thinks there should be a third target on the list: get Mexico back into the top 10 in FIFA's world rankings.

15: THE OTHER GIANTS

If Mexico gets into the top 10, where does that leave the US? They're currently ranked 27th by FIFA, third place in CONCACAF behind Costa Rica (16) and El Tri (20), and have plenty at stake in this summer's Gold Cup. Here's Ives Galarcep's early prediction for Jurgen Klinsmann's roster.
