Kick Off: USMNT set to face Colombia | NYCFC unveil jerseys | Rogers re-ups

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. USMNT VS. COLOMBIA

The US national team takes on Colombia this afternoon in London (2:45 pm ET, ESPN and UniMas) and head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Brad Guzan will start in goal with Jozy Altidore serving as captain. This will be the USMNT's first game at Craven Cottage, and despite many American links to Fulham, Klinsmann expects a pro-Colombia crowd. Matt Besler is a likely starter, and he says he's  just trying to get his legs back under him after a tough summer and fall.

2. YEDLIN SHINES IN THE SPOTLIGHT

DeAndre Yedlin is currently enjoying the London spotlight ahead of the USMNT's game against Colombia, and with the Seattle Sounders right back set to move to England's capital city soon, it's something he'll need to get used to. US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has no doubt that Yedlin will be a success, but some in MLS aren't pleased with Klinsmann's counsel when it comes to future prospects.

3. TOP PROSPECTS

Who are the top US national team prospects playing in MLS? They might be able to help the national side in the future, but with the latest US roster leaning heavily on European based players the pressure on them to step up, says ESPN's Taylor Twellman. One European-based player is forcing his way into the mix, and that's Emerson Hyndman, who is coming of age at Fulham.

4. NEW YORK CITY'S NEW KITS

At an event at Terminal 5 on Thursday, New York City FC unveiled their first MLS home kit to an assembled group of press and fans. With the kits paying homage to parent club Manchester City's classic look, the event also announced Etihad Airways as the club's new jersey sponsor.

5. PLANNING AHEAD

Speaking at the launch, NYCFC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna detailed the club's ongoing search for a third Designated Player, while chief business officer Tim Pernetti spoke about the challenges of playing at Yankee stadium and the fact that the club has already reached 11,000 season ticket sales. Listen to Reyna on ExtraTime Radio  as he puts those Frank Lampard rumors to bed and starts setting timelines for some roster moves.

6. ROGERS SECURES NEW DEAL

Despite a number of injury problems, Robbie Rogers has slowly become an important part of the LA Galaxy's first team at left back. That looks set to continue as it was announced on Thursday that the 27-year-old has signed a multi-year contract extension with the Western Conference finalists.

7. LAGERWEY'S FUTURE

With Real Salt Lake's season now finished, the most important question this offseasonconcerns the future of the club's general manager Garth Lagerwey. Whether or not Lagerwey stays with RSL remains to be seen, but the GM confirmed he is set to meet team owner Dell Loy Hansen within the next week.

8. CANADIAN CUTS

After numerous injuries and a few unfortunate incidents, it looks as though Omar Salgedo's time with the Vancouver Whitecaps has finally come to an end. The 'Caps aren't the only Canadian side shedding players, though, as Toronto FC declined options on Jeremy Hall and Andrew Wiedeman.

9. PROMOTING FROM WITHIN

The Seattle Sounders revealed the first coach of their new USL PRO side, Sounders 2, naming Ezra Hendrickson, an assistant to the Sounders first team for the past six seasons, as the man to lead the developmental side.

10. ONE VOTE DOWN

D.C. United's new stadium took another small step forward on Thursday after the D.C. Council's Finance and Revenue Committee passed legislation to give the team their new home. However, there's still a long way to go as that legislation must now also pass three more committees and a full council vote before it can become law.

11. GROWING THE GAME

While MLS is no stranger to signing players from all around the world, does the sheer number of foreign players on team rosters today help show just how much the league has grown?

12. SEEKING GUIDANCE

Having recently served as president of Chivas USA, former MLS Executive Vice President Nelson Rodriguez has landed a new job, this time with US Soccer, working as Managing Director of National Team Advisory Services.

13. NOWAK GETS TECHNICAL

Rodriguez wasn't the only one to land a new job on Thursday, as former Philadelphia Union head coach Peter Nowak was appointed technical director of the Antigua & Barbuda FA. Meanwhile, is Nowak's former club set to announce a new hire of their own today?

14. NO STOPPING MOLINO

Kevin Molino is at it again, as the USL PRO MVP made it three goals in two games for Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean Cup, helping them secure a spot in next summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup along the way. All of which bodes well for Molino's first season in MLS with Orlando City.

15. BATTLING FOR A RED DEVIL?

While Tesho Akindele has now stated he wants to take his time considering where his international future lies, it seems the US and Canada may have another future star to fight over. Seventeen-year-old Josh Doughty, the latest up-and-comer from the Real Salt Lake Academy, has apparently signed for Manchester United. He could also play for England.
