5 'Overlooked' Tips To Consider This World Cup

Help on how to make money betting with the Secret Betting Club.

Dear Friend,

If like me you drowning in all the various World Cup guides and 'expert' predictions where you can read for the umpteenth time why Brazil are nailed on to lift the famous trophy (see this woeful example of expert analysis from Andy Cole), then today I have something quite different to share if betting during Brazil 2014.

I have combined some of the best stats, offers and advice accumulated over the past week and put together 5 bits of advice for the World Cup that you might not have heard of yet.

With everything from access to a 30 day free football tipster trial to how to get as big a price as 2/1 on France to beat Honduras, plus how to get the best World Cup odds full stop, there is plenty to dig into.

1) Expect low goals in the first group round games

Highly respected football tipster - Matt Love from the Football Elite service sent on some fascinating stats recently on goal expectations as part of his 15-page World Cup Guide,

Matt ran the stats on all the opening group games in every World Cup and Euro tournament since 2002 and found that 46 out of 70 opening group games went under the 2.5 goals marker (basically 2 goals or less). That's a whopping 65.7% and doesn't account for some of the obvious predictable overs games when a giant plays a minnow (i.e. Germany V Saudi Arabia).

There is a clear logical trend at play here, with many teams not keen to risk too much in their first group game. Some obvious teams have this factored into the equation in terms of their under 2.5 goals betting odds (Italy - England for example) but others such as Argentina - Bosnia are still available at odds against and worth checking out.

2) Conversely expect high goals in final group games (& 30 day free tipster trial)

Following on from point 1, the exact opposite is true in the final group games when many teams have to go all or nothing in their quest to qualify for the last 16.

Matt ran the stats again and found that in previous World Cups, the average goals per game went from 2.41 in the first stage of group games to as much as 2.75 in the final set of fixtures.

This trend is also more pronounced at the Euro's where the first game average goals went from 2.21 up to 3.03 in the final game of each group.

Again, you might like to consider taking a few higher-scoring bets in the final set of group fixtures. Especially so if it involves those teams who have been low-scoring in the first 2 group games, as this trend could certainly change when they go hell for leather to avoid elimination.

If keen to find out more, Matt is offering a 30 day free trial to his tipping service here and he tells me everyone that signs-up will also get his World Cup guide (as quoted from above) for free.

3) Consider the in-play markets for 'unknown' quantities

One area ripe for potential World Cup profit are the in-play football betting markets, which are  especially useful when punting on teams unproven or that we know little or nothing about (Iran anyone!?)

To understand this further we spoke to live betting expert Goran Trpevksi on his thoughts as to why in-play betting can be so key during international tournaments...

" First of all be aware that unlike before a match, bookmakers will never be able to fully price up everything happening in a live game. They can't account for how likely a high back line is to influence goals, or the influence of a key player. These are subtle things that the stats can never tell you.

There is also the fact that even the bookmakers are not 100% sure on their World Cup pre match odds. There's no real form guide to go off. Friendlies give us some clue, but really we'll only be able to assess how teams are playing at the end of the group stages. Anyone backing Brazil needs to be aware that they haven't played a competitive game in well over a year. They might live up to the expectations on them, they might not – the fact is, we don't know!"

So if you are struggling to get a good angle on a team, why not wait and place your bets in-play after watching the first 10 to 20 minutes or so. It might well save you from backing a few total no-hopers and conversely help you back a few relatively unknown sides who look ripe to pull off a big shock.

4) Get The Best Price Boosts

The bookies are falling over themselves to give away a whole series of Price Boosts to both new and existing customers during the World Cup

No doubt you have been inundated with them, but one of my favourite bookies for such boosts are Titan Bet, who are offering up to £10 on the following bets to all new account holders...

England 5/1 to beat Italy
Italy 4/1 to beat England
Spain 2/1 to beat Holland
France 2/1 to beat Honduras
Argentina 2/1 to beat Bosnia

If you haven't yet got a Titanbet account, it's well worth opening one, sticking £10 on one of the above bets and either letting it ride or cashing out to lock in guaranteed profit.

5) Use Pinnacle Sports For 1X2, AH & Over/Unders

My final tip here is the easiest one, which is to make sure you open a Pinnacle Sports account if placing any 1X2, Asian Handicap or Over/Under bets during the World Cup.

You won't read about them in some prominent locations (for example the Racing Posts' World Cup Guide) but they regularly offer some of the best odds on many World Cup bets.

Rather than use gimmicks, they prefer to rely on offering the best odds and lowest margins across the board and appeal to many serious football punters. Open a new Pinnacle Sports account today.

Good Luck!

Hopefully some of these 5 tips have provided a bit of extra food for thought when it comes to your own World Cup betting. Whichever team you back and whichever country you support - I wish you the best of luck!

Best regards,
Peter - SBC Editor
