Kick Off: Altidore for Defoe? l Mix-ing it up in NYC? | US U-20s' stuttering start

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. LATEST REPORTS ON ALTIDORE

The latest UK reports claim that Jozy Altidore, who missed Sunderland's squad for their 1-0 loss to Liverpool due to illness, could join Toronto FC possibly in exchange for Jermain Defoe. But Goal.com says the New York Red Bulls are now back in the running.

2. MIX-ING IT UP IN NEW YORK CITY

The same Goal.com report also declares that US international midfielder Mix Diskerud is "expected to sign a contract with New York City FC this week." Meanwhile, Diskerud's potential NYCFC teammate, David Villa, told The Wall Street Journal that his move to America is "an advance in my career."

3. WINNING COMBINE

As the MLS Player Combine enters its final two days ahead of Thursday's SuperDraft, presented by adidas, let's look back at the first two matchdays. Matchday 1 saw some unexpected standouts emerge while Matchday 2 offered plenty of goals. 4. US U-20S OFF TO A BAD START

Tab Ramos's US side didn't get its CONCACAF Under-20 Championship campaign off to the best start following a 1-1 draw with Guatemala on Friday. Things then got worse with a 1-0 loss to Panama on Sunday, leaving hopes of reaching the U-20 World Cup in a precarious position.

5. CANADA AND MEXICO FACE OFF TODAY

Canada's U-20s, on the other hand, made a fine start with a 3-1 win over Haiti and a fine display of team unity. They weren't as impressive as Mexico, though, who won 9-1 over Cubaand put together a memorable five-man goal celebration. Canada and Mexico face each other on Monday (3 pm ET, FOX Sports 2 in USA).

6. KLINSMANN'S KIDS

If you didn't see the US national team January camp roster yet, let's recap: Jurgen Klinsmann's squad, as expected, features a number of young players likely to be involved in Olympic qualifying, including soon-to-be-drafted MLS Generation adidas signing Alex Bono.

7. MORE USMNT FRIENDLIES SNEAK PEEK

Looks like you can add two more friendlies to the USMNT's expanding schedule. It seems that Fox Sports revealed that the US will now also be taking on Australia and Ghana later this year.

8. CHICHARITO FOR MLS?

It was a possibility, it seems, as Goal.com revealed on Sunday that Real Madrid's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has been targeted twice by MLS .

9. RED BULLS KEEP HOLD OF SAM

Fresh from securing Ambroise Oyongo's permanent transfer, the New York Red Bulls have signed Lloyd Sam to a new contract extension as well. It also seems that rumors of Bradley Wright-Phillips returning to England on loan are indeed just rumors.

10. LAMPARD WILL ARRIVE IN JULY

Frank Lampard didn't start in Manchester City's 1-1 draw against Everton, but the news of the day was that the Englishman will definitely be on his way to MLS in the summer after New York City FC's Claudio Reyna reiterated that Lamps signed a contract last week and Lampard himself finally released a statement.

11. DYNAMO LOADING UP

Having just signed Argentine loanee Leonel Miranda on Thursday, the Houston Dynamo didn't waste any time in adding another new player: Spanish defender Raul Rodriguez joined Owen Coyle's new look side after rescinding his contract with La Liga side Espanyol.

12. ORLANDO ADDING TWO

Orlando City SC look set to gain a slightly more South American feel with the expected signing of young Colombian players Carlos Rivas and Cristian Higuita from Deportivo Cali. While not official yet, the pair are already donning the Lions' purple jerseys.

13. YEDLIN DEBUTS

As DeAndre Yedlin completed his first game for Tottenham Hotspur, playing 60 minutes in the Under-21's victory over West Ham United, his former side, the Seattle Sounders, officiallyfinalized the signing of their newest Homegrown Player.

14. MATTOCKS ON THE MOVE AGAIN

With his week-long training spell in England finished, it looks like Vancouver Whitecaps forward Darren Mattocks is on the move again, this time rocking up in Turkey for a training camp with Swedish side IFK Goteborg.

15. SAER SENE HEADS TO ENGLAND

Former New England Revolution and New York Red Bull striker Saer Sene has found a new club, signing with English Championship side Blackpool. The French forward was on the search for a new team after being released by the Red Bulls last month.
