Kick Off: Montreal Impact in CCL final | USA-Mexico, U-23 style | NYCFC's Taylor out for season Here are the 15 stories we're talking about this morning: 1. MONTREAL SET FOR FIRST LEG VS. AMÉRICA The Montreal Impact will continue their march on history tonight as they take on Club América in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final (9 pm ET, FOX Sports 2 & UniMás in the USA, Sportsnet World & TVA Sports 2 in Canada). The Impact's preparations have been extensive and, while MLS clubs have struggled in Mexico, the Impact are looking to change that. 2. AMÉRICA LOOKING PAST IMPACT? Although they acknowledged their respect for their opponents, Club América also hinted that they are already looking forward to playing in the Club World Cup. 3. WHEN AN AMERICAN CLUB ALMOST TOOK DOWN AMÉRICA It turns out the Impact are not the first American or Canadian club to face Club América in the CONCACAF final. The San Francisco Blackhawks did it in 1992, and very nearly pulled off a shock. 4. BIG O SELLS OUT The Montreal Impact will definitely have a home-field advantage in the second leg on April 29, as the Stade Olympique is now officially sold out for the match. If you didn’t get a ticket yet, take heart: the Impact are apparently looking at ways to add extra capacity. 5. USA VS MEXICO, U-23 STYLE As the US Under-23 national team gear up for their friendly against Mexico on Wednesday night (11 pm ET, UniMás), here's the latest from the US camp. Stanford's Jordan Morris, who scored for the senior US team last week, is being held up as an example to all young US players by Jurgen Klinsmann. Another young player, though, is the subject of questions right now: Why was Julian Green left out of the squad?. 6. DONOVAN SCORES FOR U.S. The US Under-20 national team salvaged a 2-2 draw against Qatar on Tuesday thanks to Orlando City rookie Conor Donovan. Next up is a Saturday friendly against Croatia, with the Philadelphia Union’s Zach Pfeffer hoping to make himself a big part of Tab Ramos’ plans. 7. LIONS HIT THEIR TARGET Speaking of Orlando City, the club hit an impressive landmark on Tuesday, selling out their complete allocation of 14,000 season tickets. Head coach Adrian Heath, meanwhile, has expectations for US U-18 call-up Tommy Redding. 8. NYCFC'S TAYLOR OUT FOR THE YEAR More bad news for New York City FC as, the club confirmed that striker Tony Taylor’s season is over with a torn ACL suffered in Sunday's loss to the Portland Timbers on Sunday. 9. KWARASEY WANTS MORE FROM HIMSELF Despite three shutouts and only conceding seven goals in seven games, Portland Timbers goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey feels he hasn’t reached his usual standard yet. The good news is that Ghana coach Avram Grant watched Kwarasey play against New York City, and the two discussed the goalkeeper's future with the national team. 10. RED BULLS FACE TOUGHEST TEST YET Starting on Sunday, the New York Red Bulls will play three games in seven days, a stretch that will truly test the depth of their squad. The good news is that midfielder Lloyd Sam should be ready to go in time for this weekend's massive nationally telivised showdown with the LA Galaxy (Sunday, 5 pm ET, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes). 11. DYKSTRA BOUNCES BACK With Bill Hamid missing last Saturday’s game against the Houston Dynamo due to a thigh contusion, D.C. United goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra got the start in goal and, in doing so, was able to exorcise the demons haunting him since his disastrous performance in the Champions League back in February. 12. A MORE MATURE MATTOCKS The Vancouver Whitecaps may have found another goalscorer alongside Octavio Rivero this season, not in a new signing, but rather in a more mature Darren Mattocks. Meanwhile, the club do have a new signing in Cristian Techera, who is extremely keen to make his debut for the Canadian side. 13. TRAPP TAKING HIS TIME Wil Trapp is back in Columbus, but the midfielder, who is still recovering from concussion symptoms, isn’t rushing his return. In the meantime, can fellow Crew SC midfielder Ethan Finlay rediscover his goalscoring form from 2014? 14. RAPIDS RECALLS? With the Colorado Rapids squad stretched thin by injuries and youth international call-ups, head coach Pablo Mastroeni has suggested the club might recall a few loned-out players back from USL affiliate Charlotte independence. 15. BYE BYE, BLANCO Last night marked the final game for Mexican legend and former Chicago Fire star Cuauhtémoc Blanco. The 42-year-old ended his career in the best way possible, too, helping Puebla lift the Copa MX trophy with a 4-2 victory over Chivas Guadalajara. MLSsoccer.com Musts MLS Save of the Week: Vote now!
