Kick Off: Rapids, Revs ink DPs | Palmer-Brown loaned to Porto | Sounders testing out 4-3-3

Here are the top soccer stories everyone's talking about today:

DP DOUBLE PLAY

A pair of MLS clubs signed Designated Players out of the Swiss Super League on Monday, with Colorado landing Albania strike ace Shkelzen Gashi and New England announcing the acquisition of Ivory Coast midfielder Xavier Kouassi.

MORE REVS & RAPIDS NEWS

Meanwhile, ESPNFC all-star Jeff Carlisle reports that New England remain in talks with free agent Jermaine Jones. As for Colorado, a Guatemalan report claims they've also snared Trinidad & Tobago defender Mekeil Williams.

PALMER-BROWN TO PORTO

As reported, young Sporting KC defender Erik Palmer-Brown has joined Portuguese giants FC Porto on loan until next winter.

UNITED GRAB SARVAS

The Rapids were mighty busy on Monday, also dealing midfielder Marcelo Sarvas to D.C. United in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money and a 2018 conditional MLS SuperDraft pick.

MIAZGA'S REPLACEMENT?

With Matt Miazga off to Chelsea, the New York Red Bulls have reportedly swung a deal to snag a recent Barcelona B target, Ghana defender Gideon Baah from Finnish power HJK.

MATT IS THE NEW BLUE

Speaking of Miazga, he's given his first interview as a member of Chelsea, who also posted video of his first training session.

SOUNDERS GAME

Perhaps it seemed inevitable with Jordan Morris joining an already crowded attack stable, but Seattle are working on a 4-3-3 formation.

PORTLAND BLAZERS

Fresh Portland Timbers recruits Chris Klute and Zarek Valentin are aiming to work the flanks from their respective fullback slots so well that fans forget about the sale of Jorge Villafana to Liga MX side Santos Laguna.

DEBUTANTS' BALL

Jurgen Klinsmann has praised the four US national team players who earned their first caps in Sunday's rally over Iceland. The whole squad is putting that behind them, though, what with northern rival Canada set to invade on Friday.

BRAD HOC

The official FIFA website has a feature on new US Under-19 boss Brad Friedel.

CREW WINGS

Real Betis says they have loaned left-sider Amro Tarek to Columbus for the 2016 season.

SPURRED ON

With Jan Vertonghen on the injury shelf for a couple months, could Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino be ready to promote US U-23 defender Cameron Carter-Vickers to the first team? Stay tuned.

OTHER EXPORTS

Former Rapids defender Shane O'Neill has moved again, this time joining League Two's Cambridge on loan from Cypriot side Appolon Limassol. Over in Israel, former Crew striker Aaron Schoenfeld has made a very quick move from second flight Maccabi Nettanya to Hapoel Tel Aviv after only a few weeks in the country.

PICK-UP ARTISTS

It seems plenty of current and former MLS stars spent the winter playing in better pick-up games than you might be used to.
