Kick Off: Big night for Canadian clubs in MLS playoff race | Canada U-23s join US in Olympics semis

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. CAN THE IMPACT GAIN SOME SPACE?

The Montreal Impact’s playoff quest takes them to visit the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday evening (7:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE), a road game which offers a quick trip home for Dilly Duka. And while Ignacio Piatti is back with the Canadian club, his status for tonight’s game remains uncertain . We'll see if any of the Red Bulls can score a goal that matches this strike from one of their U-23 players.

2. CAPS SET FOR ABSENCES

Although the Vancouver Whitecaps have not been at their best recently, a win against FC Dallas Wednesday night (10 pm ET, TSN in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US) would clinch a playoff berth and potentially take them back to the top of the table. However, to do it, they may have to do without any of their first-choice back four.

3. U-23 MAINTAIN WINNING RECORD...

The US U-23s finished the group stage of Olympic qualifying in style, with goals from Jordan Morris and Real Salt Lake’s Luis Gil helping to secure a 4-0 win over Panama and ensure the US finished their group undefeated.

4. ... AND ALSO HELP CANADA

The US U-23s’ win was also enough to ensure Canada advance to the semifinals after a late equalizer meant they were held to a 2-2 draw by Cuba.  The two teams will now face either Mexico or Honduras, depending how results go in Wednesday’s Group B finales.

5. A SCOTSMAN FOR THE UNION?

As the Philadelphia Union wind down the current season, amid a big change at the top of the organization, there are a couple of trialists with the club at the moment, including Scottish international James McFadden. Could the former Premier League striker be set to join the MLS side?

6. ORLANDO RECALL A ‘KEEPER

While all the attention is on a potential move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Orlando City have recalled goalkeeper Josh Ford from his spell with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers to replace Earl Edwards Jr., as the No. 2 goalkeeper is set to miss a few weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

7. BE MORE CLINICAL

For the first time in a while, the Portland Timbers find themselves below the red line. They still have three games to turn things around but, according to Jack Jewsburythe team’s execution needs to be a lot better if they want to make it happen.

8. ARNAUD’S ABSENCE

D.C. United overcame their late season struggle to secure their playoff place last weekend, but is it fair to say that Davy Arnaud’s injury has affected the club more than any other this season?

9. US FACE QUESTIONS

There's a lot riding on the CONCACAF Cup at the Rose Bowl, which is now just three days away. It's a rivalry that has come a long way over the past 10 years, but there are still some big questions facing the US national team ahead of the game.

10. BRADLEY FOCUSED ON THE PRESENT

The US has recently enjoyed a relatively good run of results against Mexico, but national team captain Michael Bradley is keen to point out that past form means nothing heading into such a big game. Also, if the projected even crowd split has a stronger Mexican influence, that's something that Bradley would look forward to.

11. DONOVAN WANTS ACCOUNTABILITY

What would happen if the US lose to Mexico on Saturday? Given the team's summer results and recent form, former USMNT great Landon Donovan believes manager Jurgen Klinsmann could be on the hot seat if the result goes against his side.

12. CAN MEXICO MANAGE WITHOUT DOS SANTOS?

It’s estimated that Giovani Dos Santos will need three weeks to recover from his injury, which could affect the LA Galaxy heading into the playoffs, but the US are certain that Mexico will get by just fine without him. For their part, the Americans will be without the injured Aron Johannsson, but the striker is confident the team will beat Mexico without him.

13. HAVE MEXICO FOUND THEIR NEW MANAGER?

While Ricardo Ferretti will still take charge of Saturday’s CONCACAF Cup, it looks as though Mexico have found their next manager, with reports on Tuesday suggesting that Juan Carlos Osorio will take over the national team after leaving his post with Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

14. CANADA’S INJURIES

Canada aren’t in competitive action this weekend, which may be just as well as the squad has already lost two players to injury, including the Montreal Impact’s Kyle Bekker. However, one player they do now have is Junior Hoilett, who claims playing for Canada was an easy decision to make.

15. KEANE ON KEANE

Congratulations are due to Robbie Keane, who is currently celebrating the birth of his second child. Will it affect his availability for the Republic of Ireland’s national team this week? Assistant manager Roy Keane seems pretty certain it won’t.

Kick Off: Dos Santos to miss CONCACAF Cup | Olympic qualifying | MLS Ballon d'Or nominees

Here are the top 15 stories everyone's talking about today:

1. DOS SANTOS TO MISS CONCACAF CUP

Mexico will be without LA Galaxy star Giovani dos Santos for Saturday's CONCACAF Cup match vs. the United States. Dos Santos picked up an injury in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Seattle and was removed from the El Tri roster on Monday.

2. US U-23S WRAP UP GROUP PLAY

The US Under-23s face Panama today at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in their final group game in the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship. The Yanks have already clinched a berth in the semifinals, helped greatly by the center-back pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Matt Miazga.

3. CANADA IN WITH A CHANCE

Meanwhile, the Canadian U-23s are in second place in Group A and face a struggling Cuban side in their final match. A win will see them through to the semis, and head coach Benito Floro believes the players "are in a good mentality."

4. BROADCAST NEWS

Lots of TV news on Monday. First, MLS revealed the flex-schedule for nationally broadcast games for Week 33, taking place between October 16-18.  Also, MLS announced a new partnership with Fox Sports Latin America to broadcast games across Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

5. BALLON D'OR MLS-BASED NOMINEES

Two MLS stars are reportedly included in the initial list of nominees for this year's FIFA Ballon d'Or Award, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

6. ORLANDO CITY AND ZLATAN?

Orlando City are making headlines for their inspring quest to make the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs, despite the fact that they are at the mercy of others. The Lions are also in the news for something else: a Zlatan-sized transfer rumor

7. BARNES’S BLESSING

Having overcome a series of career-threatening injuries, Giles Barnes credits his move to the Houston Dynamo with helping him become the man and the player he was destined to be. Now, the English-born Jamaican international has his sights set on helping the Reggae Boyz qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

8. LAWRENCE BACK IN TRAINING

Kemar Lawrence is back in training for the New York Red Bulls after missing Saturday's win against Columbus Crew SC due to personal reasons, but the defender remains a doubt for Wednesday night’s clash with the Montreal Impact (7:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE). The Red Bulls also have a new face among the coaches on Wednesday night.

9. SALT LAKE STILL FIGHTING

Real Salt Lake’s playoff hopes are, somehow, still alive, and the club face an absolutely crucial match against the Portland Timbers next week. Their destiny is not in their hands entirely, but “we’re going to do our very best to make a push,” head coach Jeff Cassar says.

10. ALTIDORE AT THE READY

According to Toronto FC and US interantiaonl striker Jozy Altidore, the past two years have been the toughest of his career both on and off the field. But now the problems are behind him, and he is able to focus on soccer again.

11. WONDO’S FINAL CHANCE?

Could the CONCACAF Cup represent Chris Wondolowski’s last game with the Stars and Stripes? The San Jose Earthquakes star certainly seems to be treating it that way, and he plans to make the most of his chance.

12. YEDLIN’S TOUGH TIMES AT SUNDERLAND

DeAndre Yedlin earned his first Premier League start for Sunderland on last Saturday, then, on Sunday learned that the club had fired its manager, meaning the US international may have to start all over again with a new boss.

13. AZTEX SET FOR SABBATICAL

The Austin Aztex are set to miss the 2016 USL season as they continue their efforts to secure a soccer-specific stadium after their previous home was ravaged by flooding in May.

14. FINANCIAL IMPACT IN SACRAMENTO

As Sacramento Republic FC continue their efforts to land an MLS expansion franchise, the club released a new study showing the positive financial impact that a new privately backed soccer stadium could have on the local economy.

15. THE HISTORY OF SOCCER IN ATLANTA

2017 MLS expansion club Atlanta United FC will be the latest team to carry soccer's banner in the Southern metropolis, a city whose soccer rooots go back more than 100 years.

Dear Friend,

As Editor of the Secret Betting Club it is my firm belief that anyone, whatever their starting point CAN make a success from their own betting....provided they have the right expertise to hand.

Yet I know what you are thinking, why after all would you just take my word for it?

After all, the tipping industry is riddled with chancers willing to sell their Grandma to make a quick buck....and you are right to be wary.

Which is why to back up my bold statement up, I thought I would share some real-life testimonials received here at SBC from some of our actual members.

Each of these quotes has been received by a bonafide, genuine Secret Betting Club member who took the plunge and has kindly shared their experiences so far.

'The Best Money I've Ever Spent On Anything'

"On a personal note can I just say that after almost a year of SBC membership I consider the membership fee to be the best money I've
ever spent on anything. I've made that back many times over using the forum tips and advice from the magazines, discounted memberships etc and have recommended you, and will continue to do so, to quite a few people."

'Really Pleased I Found SBC'

"Since joining SBC I have set up spreadsheets for my horse and sports bets with banks of 100 points. I'm following various tipsters with varying success but one really stands out. My first bet from him was Fresh Kingdom won 7/1 only five days ago. I haven't bet all his selections, for example when he picked three in one race I didn't bother. But 16 bets at £20 have netted me £1510 profit, wow, crikey, etc. And of course including that monster which I had at 40/1.

Overall, really pleased that I found SBC. No, make that exceptionally pleased. No, make that really exceptionally pleased. No, etc."

'I've Learned A Lot From Being A SBC Member'

"Just wanted to say thanks for these years in which I've learned a lot of stuff from being a SBC member. In the past 2 years I've been developing my own systems and methods of picking value especially for horse racing and my primary source of inspiration have been the interviews that you published with tipsters and the in-depth analysis you provided on their results which helped me understand the long term view required to make it into the betting arena."

'One Of The Best Investments....Trebled My Initial Cash Injection'

"When I first began betting around 20 months ago I didn't have much of an idea how it should be done other than pick a few football teams or horses in an accumulator and hope for the best, always cursing that one that let me down for my big win. After a while I figured there must be people out there with more knowledge that I could 'piggy back' onto and follow their selections to make money, but the pitfalls of that soon became apparent when I realised that many of these people didn't know any more than I did, but were also charging for this advice. While I didn't get caught up in the habit of paying for advice from so called 'tipsters' I did make the mistake of following in people that considered themselves experts. Again, while I didn't lose any serious money like many do, I certainly didn't make any and figured there must be somebody out there that had been down the same path as me and came to the same conclusions, so I trawled search engines looking for the best 'verified' tipsters. Eventually each search path brought me back to one place, the Secret Betting Club.

So being sceptical by nature I began to review the review site. Each review said only positive things, so I then began to review the people that had written the reviews looking for some big con somewhere, and though I looked quite hard, I didn't find any evidence of anything untoward. Still I wasn't sure about joining, at that point in my betting 'career' the £80 joining fee was a big amount of money, but I did eventually take the plunge, and it proved to be money extremely well spent…

The first thing I noticed about the SBC is the amount of information and help that's available, there are help and user guides for everything, plus an active forum where you can ask anything you want. The second thing was the impartial review on a large number of tipsters out there, those that are good are recognised, those that aren't are told so, and more importantly, we were told who was worth following and who wasn't. The amount of time and money this has probably saved people must run into hundreds of thousands of pounds, possibly more.  For myself, I've roughly trebled my initial cash injection, which is even more massive when you consider that the best cash ISA's make around 4% per year!

In short, anyone that's serious about making money through gambling over a concerted period of time should start with SBC, beginner or pro alike. For the sake of what it costs, it could be one of the best investments you make in your life."

'Made Me A Successful And Profitable Punter'

Thanks to SBC My Betting Profitability Has Gone To New Levels'

"I have been an SBC subscriber for more than a year now.  Thanks to your SBC services, my betting profitability has gone to new levels!  I sincerely thank you for the services to which I have subscribed based upon your recommendations turning out to be winners after winners. Thanks for all your work in sorting the wheat out from the chaff to have enabled this to happen.

Trust me, I came across so much chaff in my earlier betting days that I knew there had to be a better way.  Coming across you guys as part of this improvement process has been the difference between losing as 98% of the betting population do (and I knew I just had to break out of this 98%, but as you know that isn't easy), to making quite a handy second income as I have done over the last 12 months especially.

Thanks again for the range of services you provide, and this happy camper is very grateful to your club for totally turning my betting profitability around. Best of luck to you and your other members for a profitable future!

'This Is The Real Deal'

"When setting up my portfolio the SBC played a key role in identifying tipsters which I may wish to consider and they continue to do so keeping the portfolio fresh with new ideas. With the explosion of social networking sites there is a lot of readily available info for the new age gambler, this is highly useful but also throws up a lot of garbage and it can be very time consuming to sift through all this, the SBC essentially does this job for us and centres in on the real players in the industry.

With a vast number of tipsters independently proofed they give information not only on how the selections preformed but also how the service works, whether it is manageable and if it offers long term stability.  The overall ratings of each tipster and the hall of fame table show all the worthwhile tipsters in the business.  Forget about these advertisements in the Racing Post promising an income of 50 grand a month, this is the real deal with long term figures and results laid out right before your eyes.  I pick out tipsters which I feel will fit into my model and then do some real time proofing of my own and the SBC are yet to give me a bad lead."
